New York City Invitational


A Tidewater Debate League member school competed at the New York City Invitational held October 24th - 26th at the Bronx High School of Science in New York.

In the Varsity division of policy debate, the Kempsville High School team of Adora Parker and Samuel Ross went 4-2 in preliminary competition. Adora Parker took 5th-place speaker.

Submitting Student Congress Legislation

Legislation for the TDL tournament being held Saturday, October 18th, at Floyd Kellam High School must be submitted no later than midnight on Tuesday, October 14th.

Here's how to submit legislation:

1. Scroll down to "October Student Congress Topics" and click on the "comments" link at the bottom of the post.

2. Type your legislation in the the "Leave your comment" box (you can also copy and paste from a Word document).

3. Complete the "WORD VERIFICATION" step, as indicated.

4. Select "Name/URL".


5. Type your full name, followed by the name of your school, in the "Name" box. For example: "John Smith - Hickory High School". Please do not abbreviate the name of your school.

6. Click "PUBLISH YOUR COMMENT".

Yale University


Two Tidewater Debate League member schools competed at the Yale University Invitational held September 26th - 28th in New Haven, Connecticut.

In the Varsity division of policy debate, the Kempsville High School team of Jade Kreissler and Adora Parker went 3-2 and took 9th place. Adora Parker took 9th-place speaker. The Frank W. Cox High School team of Oliver Brass and Andrew Peterson also went 3-2 and took 11th place. Oliver Brass took 2nd-place speaker.
